Information for Self-funding patients and Subsequent NHS care & Treatment
Patients frequently fund their Initial outpatient appointment so that a diagnosis can be made quickly. They then want to switch to the NHS for Scans, Surgery or other treatments.
Miss Myles, Mr Fouyas, Mr Kandasamy & Mr Statham all work in the NHS Neurosurgical Unit at The Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. They can only provide NHS treatment if you are resident in the usual catchment area of this Neurosurgical Unit.
The catchment areas are:
Dumfries & Galloway
The Consultants cannot treat you in their NHS practice if you live out with these areas. They can arrange for you to have NHS treatment under the care of another Neurosurgeon in your own Neurosurgical catchment area. If you think you may be affected by this and are not sure, you can call Denise Bond or check with your GP practice where your Catchment area is prior to making an appointment.
